About Me
I was born in 1950, growing up in Massachusetts and Florida. A trip with a
friend brought me west to New Mexico. I graduated from the University of New
Mexico with a BA in Metals and Art History.  I have also done post-graduate
work in Fibers and Art History.

I have made art since I was a child, building structures for little toys. I used
rocks, seashells, sticks, boxes and whatever was at hand. I learned to sew on
my Grandmother’s Singer treadle - machine and made costumes for my dolls.

Fabric and fibers have always been of special interest. While living in New
Mexico I spun yarn, dyed it and made hand-woven garments and hand-knitted
sweaters.  I also made jewelry. These pieces were sold at craft venues and
shops in New Mexico.

Moving to Texas, I developed an interest in quilts and polymer clay. My current
dolls reflect these interests. I enjoy combining polymer clay heads and faces
with my own type of “crazy quilting”. I design simple body shapes and then
embellish, embellish, embellish!  Found objects and natural items, beads,
ribbons and charms are added.  My background in metals and jewelry, fibers,
and textiles all come together in my whimsical figures.

I live in San Antonio, Texas with my husband David, who has provided much

encouragement to me. I also have two grown children; Matthew and Elizabeth,
cat Rosebud and dogs Bonnie and Mary.

I have had my art published in Belle Armoire, Somerset Studio, Art Doll
Quarterly, Cloth Paper Scissors and Quilting Arts magazines as well as the
book Haute Handbags. In 2003 and 2005 I showed at the International Quilt
Festival’s “Treasures of the Gypsy” doll exhibit. During the upcoming 2006
International Quilt Festival (Oct 30-Nov 7 in Houston, Texas)
. I will have dolls
in the “Dance of the Gypsy” exhibit as well as in the “ Celebration of the Doll”
exhibit. My artwork has been shown in group as well as individual shows
around Texas.

I currently work and teach at Stamp Antonio Arts in San Antonio, Texas.
